Thrift Find :: Christmas!

I came across this beauty of a cookie jar last month.

(The wallpaper is just stunning huh? -____- )

It needed a good washing but seriously, for $3 how could I pass this up? I love it!

Thrift Shopping!!

Hello! :) I had a chance to go to Salvation Army today! I went to find bookend(s) for my text books & found none. But I obviously didn't leave empty handed.....

(I also want to note that due to my teeny tiny room, 90% of the things I buy at thrift stores go into storage for when I get my own place after college. I can't wait to decorate and set up all my treasures I've found over the years)

It holds a little tea light in the middle. Candles aren't allowed in the Res Halls (& I don't have room) so this is going home for storage.

One find that I was so psyched for I literally yelled "YES!!" in the store for....

Okay, so I had seriously just told my friend how I needed colored pencils for a Physiology coloring book I bought (I'll post it when I get it!) and these pencils were perfect!! They were brand spankin' new, only $1, and...

They had Disney Princesses on them.

WIN.

So yeah, today was good. Or should I say, yesterday? Since I AM posting this at 1am because I stayed up doing RA stuff and got distracted.

Shopping Finds!

Oh, look! I'm doing another random post because I realized I did something interesting! Haha. I've been super busy with my summer classes (I'm taking Anatomy Mon-Fri 8am-2pm). So it's pretty much taking up all my time. BUT I did have a chance to go shopping. Here is my adventure:

So, I've always had a hard time fitting into heels because I have wide feet so when I found these Paris Hilton shoes & they fit perfectly, I NEEDED to have them.....except they were $85 at the mall. :(

BUT my friend told me, she bought the same shoes at Marshalls. For $30. So where do you think I went next? :) (Also, on my way to Marshalls I made myself a deal that if I didn't spend money at Marshalls, I will go thrifting)

Unfortunately they didn't have those shoes but I did find these: *angels sing*

As you can see from this crappy photo I took with my cell phone, they were only $20! The problem? They didn't have my size. I'm usually a 7-7 1/2 and so I tried on an 8 but the shoe was definitely too long. But it was PERFECT everywhere else. :(

(& If you're thinking these heels are too high, I'm only 5'1 so I need the extra 3 inches!)

This wasn't so bad, because if you read above, this means that I can go to Salvation Army. Which I did.

I spend $5 & I got....

This mug! For 49 cents. The bottom says its an Avon Valentines Day Mug from 1983. I think it was in a set because the bottom fits to sit on top of other mugs. I thought it was cute & tacky and I love mugs. 

I got another mug :) This one is probably my 2nd favorite after my retro soup mug. I love the colors & its just so fun! I LOVED the Berestain Bears as a child (I might still own the tapes and watch them occasionally) and this mug which was also 49cents, which means I had to have it. (& you might notice my background on my MacBookPro is 500 Days of Summer, one of my all-time favorite movies. I seriously LOVE Zooey Deschanel.)

& FINALLY I found this Acorn ceramic container. It was brand new & $4. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be a cookie jar but right now, it holds all my medicines. Which works for me! :) It's so cute, a definitely awesome find.

So thanks for reading this long post. I'm going to go to the Marshalls back home (I'm at school right now) to see if they have the shoes. I'll definitely post if there's a success! Maybe I'll even bake tomorrow after studying and post my amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe :)

Today I also made...

Orang Soda Cupcakes!!

I used this recipe to make these delicious treats!

Although, I clearly tweaked it a bit (they were supposed to be in ice cream cones)

Heres a "fresh out-of-the-oven" photo :)

The kitchen smelled absolutely heavenly.

All packaged up & ready to go to the animal shelter to feed all my working buddies!

Overall:

Delicious!! Not an extremely strong orange flavor. Just right! Very easy to make. Literally put everything in a bowl & mix then pour. The only negative is that the recipe called for 'orange hard candies' which, (in stop & shop) were very scarce. So I bought 3 bags of Life Savers & picked out the orange ones. (I was, however, disappointed to find only one in one of the bags) But I managed & will probably make these again after I test out some other recipes!

All my family had to say was "Mmmmmmm" :)

& I'm typing this post from my MAC!! :) I'm still busy transferring all 6,000 songs over but I will definitely post pictures of it tomorrow!

Success!

Success on multiple levels!

First, I have succeeded in making an adorable cookie keychain:

& Second, I had success thrifting today at the Salvation Army! :)

I got these adorable-retro silverware for $1.50! (Still in package!)

& I got this awesome Norman Rockwell glass (I love his work!)

Its a little scratched up, but that doesn't bother me :)

(Also, don't mind the naked nails, I usually have on some awesome funky nail polish, but I was at work today :( where its a no no.)

I also got super soup mugs and a mason jar, but they are currently soaking in baking soda because they smelled like butt. So I will post those picture tomorrow!

Speaking of tomorrow, my new MAC comes in tomorrow! I'm super excited since this computer is falling apart (keyboard & mouse pad don't work) & I needed a new one for school! & it comes with a free iPod Touch :) (My first touch electronic!) So, of course I'll have to post pictures of that tomorrow as well.

& I also found a recipe for Orange Soda Flavored Cupcakes. I thought I'd give them a shot. I'll let you know how they came out.
