(I haven't been watching many movies lately so I'll share with you some of my favorite TV Shows!)

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

My brother and his friends told me to watch this show and I was skeptical. I thought My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic would be a silly kids show (and yes it is) but its awesome. It's by the maker of Powerpuff Girls (So you know its good haha) and it's quirky and has amazingly lovable chracters. So seriously, I recommend watching the episodes on YouTube. Also this show is actually getting kind of popular, many males (15-25) are watching this show and calling themselves Bronies. Haha But overall, its awesome check it out :)

The Big Bang Theory

I'm sure you've heard of this show, it is getting quite popular. But my whole family has been watching since Season 1, and if you haven't seen it yet, you need to! It's SO funny! The characters are memorable and everyone's favorite (Sheldon) is played by Jim Parsons who is hilarious. The chemistry (haha) of the characters and general atmosphere of the show is intelligent, quirky, and fun. 

How I Met Your Mother

The only way you couldn't have seen this show yet (at least once) was if you dont have cable because its very popular and on all the time. However, it deserves to be. Told in stories from How I (Ted Mosby) Meets Your (His kids) Mother, it heart warming, hilarious, and a great show. I had seen many episodes on TV but in no particular order but lately, since its on Netflix, I've started watching the seasons correctly and appreciating the show for its greatness even more! If you haven't seen it, I'm shocked and you need to.

My Boys

Another "friends hanging out show" but I loved it. Unfortunately they took it off the air but it got a solid four seasons in. It was so funny and the characters are memorable. It also stars Jim Gaffigan who is a stand up comedian, also very funny. The four seasons are on Netflix so watch them!

What I'm Watching (Wednesday)

Hola.
I haven't been dead; well...kind of. Just super busy and have had no time to blog whatsoever. I'm going home for Christmas on the morning of the 23rd. I suspect the posts to be piling in then. I promise :)

So here's what I've watched recently...

A Christmas Carol

I love the story of A Christmas Carol but I didn't really care for this version. The movie seemed to be just for the 3D look, some scenes main purpose was to wow the audience. But there was a lot more symbolism and made the storyline much darker. Definitely not for young children. Overall, I don't regret watching it, but probably won't see it again. I'll stick to my Muppets Christmas Carol :)

The Last Song

I watched this because I'm going to see the Hunger Games in March and hadn't watched any of Liam's work before. He's attractive...the movie isn't. One word. Bad. 

Miracle on 34th Street

I loved this movie! I've heard the older one is much better but this is the first one I've seen so I think it's awesome. A cute story about Santa Claus :) I loved it. Will definitely watch again and again.

Alice in Wonderland

This wasn't a remake. It was a sequel. Alice come "back" to Wonderland and the movie feels just like Narnia. It wasn't bad but I won't watch it again. Special effects were amazing; Helena Bonham Carter was fabulous. But overall, the story was lacking.

That's all I've been watching. I have two tests and a job interview today so its pretty crazy. I'll try to post this weekend if I have time between studying for finals.

What I'm Watching (Wednesday)

The past two weeks (since I missed a post) I've watched:

Hot Tub Time Machine

I feel like this movie was very underrated. It was hilarious! Mostly because it didn't take itself seriously. It's a jokey comedy that was very entertaining! I really don't need to explain the premise, it's kind of obvious. This is a very funny movie, I recommend you see it! :)

Killers

I can't say I was disappointed because I came in with very low expectations. It fulfilled those. It was choppy, short, and the plot was lacking. It was humorous at times but I definitely wouldn't watch it again or recommend it. Unless you're bored and theres nothing to watch. I loved Katherine Heigl, however. But then again, she is pretty awesome.

The Crazies

This.Movie.Was.AWESOME!!

Okay, so I LOVE anything zombie/apocalyptic/dystopian but this movie is just...perfect. It even had a nice government conspiracy-like plot to it that makes you think. The graphics, character development, story line, everything was just perfect. Although you don't really see what happens after this apocalypse in the end, it's a satisfying ending. I will watch this again and again. One of my favorite zombie films to date. (Aside from Dead Snow, of course)

Love & Other Drugs

This movie was good. To be honest, I kind of mixed it up with Crazy Stupid Love when it came to the plot, I kept waiting for Ryan Gosling to come in. haha But overall this movie was good. It had the perfect balance of touching and humor. It dragged at some points but generally I'd recommend you see it! Although for me, it's a one time see.

By the way, this isn't available on Netflix. I watched this on HBO ondemand.

What I'm Watching (Wednesday)

So I'm going to try to make one of these every Wednesday...but we'll see how that goes.

This week, I've been watching...

I hadn't seen this movie before but I enjoyed it. Wasn't really that funny but the plot was entertaining. Although movies like these really grind my gears when everything goes wrong with the main character. I feel bad for them. Like Meet the Parents, Fockers, etc. Poor Ben Stiller. When will he get a break?

Ah! I loved this one! The murder mystery behind it was good. The killer was a somewhat surprise in the end but it was bloody and entertaining. Although seeing that I'm watching it for the first time in 2011, the scream mask isn't scary at all. I just see an unoriginal halloween costume.

This documentary was very cool! It was about global warming and how the glaciers are melting and scientists are wondering if they've melted before. So teams of researchers are in Antarctica drilling thousands of miles into the ice and below the sea to find sediment deposits from millions of years ago. Its awesome how they find fossilized plants from when the continent was tropical! :) I'm a nerd.

Ended my studying marathon last night with this hilarious George Carlin comedy film. I hadn't actually watched his stand up before, just heard a few jokes/youtube videos. But he was awesome! Can't wait to watch other performances of his.

This week on Netflix, I watched..

I Love You Phillip Morris

This movie was amazing. Seriously 5 Stars! It was popular in Europe when it came out but not so much in America because the plot involves homosexuality which, unfortunately, in the US isn't as accepted yet. I seriously recommend you check this out. It was so good! This is the plot from imdb:

"Steven Russell is happily married to Debbie, and a member of the local police force when a car accident provokes a dramatic reassessment of his life. Steven becomes open about his homosexuality and decides to live life to the fullest - even if it means breaking the law. Steven's new, extravagant lifestyle involves cons and fraud and, eventually, a stay in the State Penitentiary where he meets sensitive, soft-spoken Phillip Morris. His devotion to freeing Phillip from jail and building the perfect life together prompts Steven to attempt and often succeed at one impossible con after another."

Mad Men

I've only heard good things about this show so I decided to watch it to see what all the fuss was about. It took a while for a plot to start developing (about 2-3 episodes) and so far it's very good! I enjoy the time period it is set in as well. The clothing, music, beliefs, and societal norms of the 50s are very intriguing and they portray it perfectly! They actually do research so the show coincides with an actual chronological timeline to where the show is. The plot (of the first season) so far is just who sleeps with who. Just scandals so far but I hope it will pick up to something more.

South Park

Is it weird that before a few weeks ago, I'd never seen an episode? Probably. But my brother tells me ALL the time to watch it, so now it's my mindless show (i.e, to watch as I clean up). I love it! It's so funny and the characters are awesome. I won't say "I recommend it" because I'm probably the last person to start watching this and you've seen it already and know how awesome it is.

Tangled

AWESOME! Disney, I am impressed. Because Disney was starting to go downhill with Disney Channel and all those "kid dramas". What about good old cartoons? Anyways, I loved this movie and how classic this will be. It's funny, touching, and intriguing. With beautiful visuals as well. I actually took a screen shot of it, & it's my background now. See?

What I'm Watching

So one necessity of a college student I've learned about is Netflix. (Which I still love even after the recent price increase because it doesn't affect me). :) So here's what I've been watching & what I've thought:
(Note: ALL these movies are available on the Instant Stream on Netflix, that's all I use)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

My brother recommended this to me a while ago but I just got the chance to watch it yesterday. I was like "oh I'll just watch this while I'm cleaning my room". NOPE. I was so into it. It's mind-blowing. The premise is about an apathetic young man who meet a spontaneous girl and then their memories are meddled with in a way I won't say due to spoiling and they have to fight to remember each other. It is a touching, psychotic, mind-blowing, amazing movie and I recommend it to everyone. Seriously.

National Geographic: Moment of Death

This is a short (1 hour) documentary studying the human body and what happens when it shuts down. It talks about how defibrillation works, the controversy of brain death and "pulling the plug", and cell study. I found it very intriguing but then again I AM a science major and love this stuff. The movie isn't for everyone because they do show the start of a bypass heart surgery (which was awesome, I got to see what a human heart looks like pumping) but I do understand this gives people the eebie geebies. So thats a heads up.

The Pixar Story

This was interesting to see how some classic movies like Toy Story, Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, and The Incredibles were made. It follows the Pixar corporation through its growth and discusses the challenges the animators met along the way. It covered their partnership with Disney and the production of all the movies I mentioned. It was interesting but there were a few dull parts (that's when I got some cleaning done in my room) but generally if you're a fan of those movies, you should check it out, it is entertaining! :)

I'll probably do a Netflix post weekly to fill you guys in on what I've been watching. Do any of you use Netflix? I'd love to hear what you think! :)
